20 buses powered by SinoHytec¡¯s hydrogen fuel cell engines are running on the streets of Chengdu

On July 29th, 20 hydrogen fuel cell buses in blue and white equipped with the newest generation of hydrogen fuel cell engines of SinoHytec were officially launched in Longquanyi District, Chengdu. The vehicles were delivered at 10:00 AM at ZEV Chengdu Automobile Co., Ltd. Zhou Yongqing, the inspector of class 2 of Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department, Du Haibo, the director of the Management Committee of Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone, the head of the Longquanyi District attended the delivery ceremony. Other officials from Chengdu Municipal Bureau Economic and Information Technology, the Investment Promotion Bureau, the Transportation Bureau, the Finance Bureau, the Public Transport Group, and Longquanyi District also attended the ceremony.


The vehicles were produced by ZEV Chengdu Automobile Co., Ltd., one of the backbone enterprises of new energy buses in Southwest China. The company has been focusing on the research and development of new energy vehicles for many years and has accumulated technologies in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The newest generation of hydrogen fuel cell engines of SinoHytec are equipped with self-developed stacks. They have reached the technical goal of China's commercial vehicle fuel cell system in 2020 in advance, and their performance has reached the international advanced level. At present, big scale of commercial application has been realized. The vehicles will be put into operation in Chengdu City hydrogen fuel cell bus demonstration line L026, which will serve the 2021 World University Games.

Chengdu has solid industrial facilities and a forward-looking strategic vision in the development of hydrogen energy. Sichuan province is the largest hydropower producer in China, and has inherent advantages in utilizing abundant renewable energy to produce hydrogen. Secondly, Chengdu has a number of vehicle companies including ZEV, and the automobile industry chain is relatively complete. At the same time, Chengdu aims to build the hydrogen energy industry to one of the city¡¯s 5 main industries and accelerate constructing the whole industry chain of hydrogen.


Zhang Guoqiang, chairman of SinoHytec, said that the company will build the hydrogen and fuel cell vehicle industry chain based on the hydrogen fuel cell engine factory in Longquanyi District of Chengdu and cooperate with international R&D institutes and related companies. The company will support the commercial operation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and help Chengdu to create a new center for the development of hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles.


At present, hydrogen energy industry clusters including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Central China, and Southwest China have taken shape. Chengdu will benefit from the development of hydrogen energy and fuel cell industries by utilizing renewable energy such as hydropower and the automotive industry. It will improve the ecological construction of hydrogen energy in Sichuan Province and Southwest China.
